A Giving State of Mind

Mid-Season's Greetings!

I have negleted my little blog for a few extra days, and I do apologize to all who read, and to the Gods of Written Word for not letting out a few pieces of verbal flavour.
My excuse is of course, the holiday season. I in no way blame the celebration of giving on my inability to blog consistently... instead, the time to fall into my mind's narrative feels to me quite selfish. This is purely a relative feeling, and in no way do I project this towards other bloggers.
Yes, in the season of giving, my focus has been on my lovely wife, my beautiful daughter, and close family around this time. We planned, we cooked, we ate and enjoyed all there is to enjoy around Christmas.
I value and am slightly envious of the ability that my family and comrads have the wherewithall to plan and fully embrace the festivities of the season. Envious because I do not feel my planning and executing of holiday fun is up to snuff yet. Perhaps, in my everyday narrative unwritten, I forget the culture in which I'm included sometimes. Enough slugging in my psyche though, we have some great things happening for the rest of the year 2014!
To thank my family for all the time and energy they've put towards our gathering woud understate my appreciation for them. A big cheers to those who make the Season of Giving what it means to me!

Here's a Fantasy... Pool

Greetings Fellow Web Users,

It has come time to discuss hockey, though not the typical, 'Such-and-such team sucks!', and 'I'm sure those mumps are a perminent illness'. This is an awareness builder for those who have not yet braved a year long WAR in a fantasy sports pool. Sure, no one actually leaves this physical realm, but there are sacrifices made, time lost, and enemies to thwart.
Don't get me wrong, if I invested any amount of money into this, I would sleep even less than living with a newborn baby, which I have the experience to boot. No, money aside, this battle of nightly statistics, irrationally poor goaltending, and inexpliciable hot streaks make up for a thrilling platform of geeking (if I can use said word for a verb). Yes, for a free competition I may be putting a ta-a-a-a-d much pressure on myself to succeed, but that's because I know my stuff... right?
Well, after about 30 NHL games into the regular season, I sit a mere 6th out ten. What happened, you ask? In the midst of handling my offensive catgories with precision, I have neglected my goaltending like a poo-stained patch in a pristine flower bed. But, I digress.
All in good fun... My mediocre standing - Barrhaven Wizards

Decembeardingly Festive

A Pleasant Day To All,

This December represents the first time I am participating in the Beating Bowel Cancer funding effort, by growing out my facial hair for the entirety of the month. I must say, the look feels much more suited to my 'beardly' abilities than the prior facial hair/funding month, Movember.
I say this because my upper lip is not blessed with thick, dark stubble, and yet the rest of my face has this fuzzy benefit. Perhaps, much to the chagrin of my beautiful family, I should nobly bow out of the revered month of the moustache, and step up to the plate on an annual bearded endevour. Please visit!

In the interest of keeping festive this on the ol' blog this month, I would like to mention how wonderfully my family's home is decorated with winter cheer. This year is a little different than years past, as the addition of our daughter in 2014 has added a particular significance to the 'firsts' to celebrate. Christmas is definitely an important one! I sense a cozy Sunday with gift-wrapping ahead ;)
We've also received a dose of snowy (festive?) conditions, so another season of meticulous driving has begun
Keep safe on snowy roads.

The blog is on

Dear Readers,

I am not familiar with blogs, nor will I claim to be an expert in a week's time. This area of the web will be dedicated to my little creative prose/not-so-linear thoughts, and hopefully you the readers, and myself, will enjoy it equally.  To add a little topical sweetness, I've recently listened to one of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs, No Quarter, and pondered at the references to Nordic mythology. I am not a devoted researcher of Zeppelin music, but really quite enjoy the mind-scape of such cultural story telling.
I hope that's a good start. Let's do this again.
And for my catchy closing tag:
